A Shortage of Mortgage Loan Originators?

As we continue to trudge forward in our industry, many mortgage loan originators are finding that they just do not have what it takes to make a decent enough living. Lower loan amounts, tighter compensation plans and the grind of getting loans completed in a highly regulated enviroment are taking it's toll on our industry.  The refinance market has continued to keep some employed but those who are concentrating on just this type of business will eventually end up realizing that business has changed and if you do not have a book of realtors feeding you business it might be time to go find another profession.

The good news is that will open up many  opportunities for new mortgage originators. I would much prefer to find young, energetic people who want to learn how to be a good mortgage originator and dont have bad habits they have learned along the way. I am dumbfounded at how many poor mortgage originators there are still in this industry. Those who cannot even figure out how to run a FNMA DO approval are not the type of originators that I am interested in working with.

For those of you who want to learn this industry, are not afraid to speak in public, are willing to work 50 hours a week, there is serious money to be made in the mortgage profession. Find a good mentor, work hard and you will be rewarded.
